Why I Am Running
Can you imagine a high school where the students and staff feel so valued, so listened to, so inspired, that they are actually eager to come to class? Where students are challenged beyond their comfort zone while at the same time feel respected and appreciated for being exactly who they are? Where kids are given supports for cleaning up their mistakes rather than simply being suspended or expelled from school?
I am running for re-election to the East Side Union High School District Board of Trustees because I care deeply about this community, especially our young people. The success and well-being of every student is my highest priority. I am committed to making our high schools safe places where ALL students can thrive.
I’m accountable to the taxpayers of this community to get the most of out the resources our district has been given. So I’m working hard with my colleagues to stretch our tight budget, creating partnerships with outside agencies, nonprofits and businesses. Working together, we’re providing excellent educational opportunities in science, engineering, technology and math, and career technical pathways that provide hands-on, college and career training for students.
I bring over 20 years of volunteer experience, working with teens in school-based mentoring programs. There, I trained others in innovative approaches for creating success for students who previously struggled greatly. I’ve witnessed miracles when adults believe in these youth more than they believe in themselves. This is at the heart of closing the achievement gap. My goal is to keep kids in school and on track to graduate, bringing these creative tools and practices to our high schools. When our schools work for everyone, our whole community benefits.
I have support from parents, teachers, ESUHSD students and graduates in our community. I respectfully ask for your vote.
Thank you!
